Ingredients

  • 3 cups of All-purpose flour (+ 2 tbsp for dusting)
  • 2 tsp of Baking powder
  • 2 tsp of White sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of Salt
  • 1/4 cup of Vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup of warm water

Instructions

  • First, in a mixing bowl, add 3 cups of your all-purpose flour, then add 2 tablespoons of baking powder to the flour. Next, add 2 tablespoons of white sugar. Now, mix up gently. Once you're done mixing them up, add 1/4 tablespoon of salt to the mix.
  • Mix again to even out the ingredients. After that is done, add 1/4 cup of vegetable shortening. Mix it up until it gets crumbly. You should use your hands at this stage. Make sure that your hands are clean, wash them if you're unsure.
  • Next, add 1 cup of warm water and mix up again till the flour is doughed enough. Take out the dough and place it onto a flat surface. Now, knead the dough for about 10 minutes. After that is done, cut into 12 pieces equally as much as possible. After cutting them out into the required number, take a piece and form a ball of dough with it. Do the same for all the dough that's left.
  • Now, transfer the dough into the mixing bowl and then cover. Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, check on your dough. It's ready to flatten. Bring out one dough and prepare extra flour for dusting. Sprinkle some flour on the selected dough.
  • Now, roll out the dough about 5 inches in diameter. Continue until you get the length, width, and texture you want. Repeat the process until you have finished all the dough.
  • Once that is done, cook in a non-stick pan without oil over medium heat. It takes about 1 minute to cook each side. Repeat the same process until all the dough is ready.
